YOUNG FILMMAKERS STORY CONFERENCE
Join professional filmmakers for a special S.C. YOUNG FILMMAKERS PROJECT event on FRIDAY, NOV. 8, from 10-11:30a at the American Theater in Charleston (part of the AFROSOUTH FILM FESTIVAL).
High school and middle school students will have an opportunity to pitch their short film ideas to a panel for feedback. These could be stories for this year’s S.C. Young Filmmakers Project, or any project they’re working on or thinking about.
The program is an ideal field trip for teachers and students incorporating Media Arts in their curriculum. Reach out to Brad Jayne at brad@indiegrants.org with questions and for assistance.
Register to attend below. The event is free and open to the public. Guests are welcome.
For any students who wish to pitch, they should be prepared to:
Verbally describe their concept for their Young Filmmakers entry in 2-3 minutes, including how you’ll incorporate the required prop (flashlight). Or story concept for another project they might be working on.
This should include your story, your main characters, and your style.
Think about how you’ll technically execute the project (camera, locations, cast, music, etc.).
The panel is excited to hear their ideas and will give constructive feedback as they develop your story and film. More information on the pitching process will be provided to registrants before the event.
Staff will also be on hand to provide more information on the contest. Get all the S.C. YOUNG FILMMAKERS PROJECT rules and entry form here.
