2024-25 WIDE ANGLE CALL FOR MENTORS:

The South Carolina Film Commission is seeking mentors for its Wide Angle Project. Originally founded with producer Effie Brown in 2018, Wide Angle is a film and television development lab for underrepresented South Carolina filmmakers, part of the state’s industry and workforce development programs.

Up to 12 existing English-language projects will be developed during a seven-month period (narrative features, narrative episodics, documentary features, and docu-series) starting this November and ending in May 2025.

The short list of applicants for the Wide Angle Project will be divided into three groups, with experienced industry Mentors assigned to each group (max 3-4 projects per group).

Mentors will help each participant in their group develop their script, treatment, deck, business strategies, and overall Project through one-on-one sessions, small groups, peer review, etc.

Mentors will have flexibility on their methodology and how they want to work with their teams. The program will attempt to match Mentors with projects that best fit the Mentor’s background.

Mentors will be paid a $3000 stipend, with most (if not all of the work) done virtually.

Producers, filmmakers, and other production professionals from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply to be a Mentor. Our ideal candidate is someone who has been through the editorial process and has had their work shown or distributed nationally or internationally.

Please reach out to Brad Jayne at brad@indiegrants.org with questions and to be considered.
