2018 INDIE GRANTS APPLICATIONS & FUNDING CYCLE IS NOW CLOSED.  NEXT FUNDING CYCLE COMING MARCH 2019.

The South Carolina Film Commission and Trident Technical College invite South Carolina filmmakers to apply for INDIE GRANTS, production grants for narrative short film projects.  Funding amounts typically range from $20,000-$35,000.  Exact funding amounts are based on the needs of the selected project(s), amounts available through the INDIE GRANTS program, and other factors, and are at the complete discretion of INDIE GRANTS, the South Carolina Film Commission, and Trident Technical College.

Created to support indigenous South Carolina production professionals and generate professional training environments for Trident Tech film students, the INDIE GRANTS have funded and produced 30 short films since 2010.  These projects have been official selections of international film festivals like Sundance, Palm Springs, Austin Film Festival, FantasticFest, Cucalorus, Tall Grass, Slamdance, Stiges, Oxford, Nashville Film Festival, Atlanta Film Festival, Indie Memphis, LA Film Festival, DragonCon, and many more.   Recent collaborators include Oscar-winning DP Russell Carpenter (Titanic, Ant-Man), actor AJ Bowen (You’re Next, The Sacrament), DP Peter Simonite (The Perfect Guy, 2nd Unit DP on Tree of Life), and writer Brad Land (Goat).

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE 2018/2019 FUNDING CYCLE.  APPLY HERE.

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm ET on June 29, 2018, with the required short film script and resume.  At least one submitting applicant must be an indigenous South Carolina filmmaker with a South Carolina legal address, or clearly presented as indigenous in the 'indigenous status' section accompanying the address forms on the application.

Any filmmaking individual or team are eligible, including writer-only, writer/director, writer and director, producer and director, etc.  If a script by a writer-only is selected for funding, INDIE GRANTS staff will work with the writer and any other attached team members in developing and producing the project.  For filmmaking teams (e.g., director, producer, DP, etc.), the application includes areas to outline that structure and provide information on each team member.

Smaller SUPPORTING FUNDS grants in amounts from $1,500-$7,500 for finishing funds or other needs may also be considered.   If your project best fits this type of support, submit the SUPPORTING FUNDS APPLICATION.

Please read the APPLICATION and TERMS & CONDITIONS thoroughly and follow all its instructions.  Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be considered.  Read the INDIE GRANTS FAQs here.
